From the Desk of GIFFB/ROBOGW:
.On May 25, 2009 the cyclone Aila slammed into different Districts of Bangladesh KHULNA ( Bagerhat/shatkhira) and Barishal (Barguna) which left with 14 dead bodies ( around 14 people so far) , and 300 fishing boats were missing from coastal affected area ( source Channel I) . Before it starts the authority of Bangladesh evacuated around over 100000 peoples and put them in the cyclone shelters. Once the cyclone storm hits, the brackish tidal water surged up to 5-7 fits and over flawed the levees of coastal area that resulted into over flooding of the roads and many villages in the coastal areas. As reported that Govt. of Bangladesh has sent medical team and relief aid workers to help the cyclone victims. The aftermath of this cyclone could damage the house holds, roads and many infrastructure which will disrupt the social and everyday business life. On behalf of GIFFB (Global Initiatives for Flood Free Bangladesh http://giffb.blogspot.com) and ROBOGW (Role of Bangladesh on Global Warming http://robogw.blogspot.com) we are urging Bangladesh Govt. to reinstate the regular normal business and every day life by taking prompt initiative providing emergency funds to the local authorities to build the infrastructure. Otherwise it will slowdown the economic growth and other progressive activities around the affected area that may have significant impact on the overall growth of Bangladesh. We also asking Bangladeshi private sectors and other individuals to stand by the cyclone affected people and help them to over come this problem. Right now the cyclone victim’s people desperately need moral support, shelter, pure food, drinking water and clothes. Especially medial care is very important to stop spreading water born diseases among people specially the kids in the affected area.
Please come forward and help them by any means.
